How to Have a Great Day

You want to be happy.

I doubt that you wake up every morning thankful you're miserable, hoping that this brand new day will be the most miserable day you've ever had. That today will be more miserable than yesterday, but not as miserable as it will be tomorrow.

Yeah, I don't think that's you.

I think you want every day to be remarkable. You want every day to be great.

I've got some ideas that you can quickly implement into your day to help you have great days, seven days a week.

The first thing you have to do is choose to have a great day. Don't hope that you're going to have a great day. Hope is not a strategy. Consciously, intentionally choose that you are going to have a great day.

Once you get that straightforward yet powerful step done, then I want you to practice the art of smiling. Not a creepy one - you know what I'm talking about.

I used to be a professional photographer in another lifetime, and I used to tell my clients to smile with their eyes. When you greet someone, smile with your eyes. Please give them a genuine smile, your best smile.

One caveat: if you're delivering bad news, like if you're firing an employee, then don't smile. That's inappropriate. Also, if you're in court before a judge, smiling may not be a good idea either.

Number three, stay away from the negativity. There is so much negativity today: social media, streaming, billboards, radio, TV, people you work with or on Zoom calls with. Do your best to stay away from the negativity; it's only going to suck the energy out of you. I want you to intentionally choose to be positive.

I wear a wristband from Grant Cardone that says, No Negativity Allowed on one side and Be Positive on the other. This is a constant reminder to me. When people are negative around me, I walk away from them. If you're going to be negative, I'm not going to hang around you. There is plenty of negativity everywhere. But I want to fill my heart, head, and soul with positivity.

And the final way that you can have a great day is to help someone. You have skills that someone else needs help with, and I'm not talking about making money here. If someone you know needs help, it could be helping them with their website or copywriting, or maybe they need help carrying the groceries in. Help someone every single day. I promise you, it is going to do more for you than it will for them.

Choose to have a great day every day and watch your attitude and life improve beyond your imagination.
