Thankful Despite It All

thankful Nov 29, 2019

It's much easier to be thankful when life is going well than when it is not.

Think about it...

How thankful would you be if you got a flat tire in the pouring rain in rush hour?

Or you got a speeding ticket?

Or you received a bad medical diagnosis?

Of course, that would be challenging to say the least.

But I believe you have so much to be thankful for. And not just around Thanksgiving, Christmas or your birthday.

Don't believe me?

I don't know what you're going through right now, but can you be thankful for any of the following right now?

  • eyesight
  • hearing
  • ability to smell
  • a place to live (even if it's not a mansion)
  • a way to get around (vehicle, public transportation, a friend, walking)
  • the ability to think
  • friends
  • a job (whether you like it or not)
  • your pets
  • social media
  • the Internet
  • clean water to drink
  • the sun, clouds, rain, snow

And that's just what I came up with as I wrote this blog post.

I challenge you to take some time today, grab a notebook and your favorite beverage, go someplace quiet and make a list of everything that you're thankful for. You don't have to share it with anyone. This is for you.

Doing this will show you that no matter what you're going through, you have a lot to be thankful for.

I'm unapologetically a Bible reading and believing Christian and at least once a week when I pray, instead of asking Jesus for a list of things as I am prone to do like a child to Santa Claus, I just thank Him for everything He has blessed me with. I just keep thanking Him and thanking Him until I'm done.

I wish I could tell you that my life is super awesome right now...that I had everything I ever wanted and more, but that would not be the truth. But it's just not now. But it will be. It's not a NEVER but a NOT YET.

Do this exercise. You will gain a fresh perspective of what you're going through.
