I allow myself to cheat 15 minutes a week. Out of 10,800 minutes, I allow myself to cheat 15 minutes a week. And you may be saying, I'm sorry, what now? What are you talking about? So I'm on the keto diet, which is pretty much a low carb diet. But the 15 minutes before Bible study starts, I allow myself to have whatever I want, whatever treat they brought, I allow myself to eat. Just 15 minutes. Now I know some of you who are hardcore keto will say, Oh my gosh, that's the wrong thing to do. But that's not where I got myself in the trouble. I got myself into trouble when I was cheating all day, all week. So 15 minutes out of 10,800 minutes a week, I allow myself to indulge in treats. I've been doing it for four weeks now. And it works...for me. You do you.
My aunt likes to say, Sometimes you got to improvise, adapt and overcome. So it's just after 7am here in Houston, Texas. And normally, I would be out on my daily run. Unfortunately, as you can see the lightning behind me and you probably can hear the thunder, I'm not going out right now. Fortunately, it's supposed to go away in about an hour and a half. So I just had to delay my daily run for about 90 minutes. Improvise, adapt and overcome. Very powerful advice for any situation in life. Some days, your best laid plans are just not going to happen. So improvise, adapt and overcome.
There's a lot going on in our world right now. And I'm not going to talk about the litany, the absolute long list of issues that human beings are facing. You already know what they are. So I'm not going to make a viral video talking about them. What I am going to talk about in this video is how I deal with it. Now, I am unapologetically a biblical Christian. I read the Bible every day, every year. And right now we're going through a category five hurricane, but the One Person I can cling to who gives me peace. The peace that passes all understanding is Jesus Christ. So, if you are struggling with what's going on in the world today, call out to Jesus. He's right there. He's waiting for you just call His name.
I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead. Love those zombies. If you have never watched The Walking Dead and you have no idea what I'm talking about, skip this video. But for the rest of you, I have a theory. I don't think The Walking Dead to TV show. I think it's real life. I think it's reality television. Think about that. Every morning, I leave my house about 10 minutes before the sun comes up to go on my daily run so I can see the sunrise. Sets the tone for the whole day. So go watch sunrise and feel better.
Today is an amazing day. Doesn't matter what day you're watching this video on or maybe you are just listening, you're not watching me, that's okay. If you are able to hear my voice and see my face, it's amazing day. I don't know what you have going on in your world. But I can tell you, it's better than the alternative. So this is the day the Lord has made. Rejoice, and be grateful for it. No matter what happens, no matter what you going through, be grateful for today. If you're not grateful for today, might I encourage you to get a notebook out and write down all the things you're thankful for, that you're grateful for. I ran again this morning, I've been running everyday since August 29, 2017. I'm grateful for that. I'm grateful I got a good night's sleep last night. So have a super amazing day.
If you've ever wanted to know when it's time to call it a day, let me help you out here. So I was just working on my website. And I was looking for a particular email I'd sent out to my list about six months ago, and so I was searching for the subject. And the system said, no such email. But when I searched for it manually by going all the way back to the day I sent the email out, I found it. Well, when I searched, I forgot a space, a single space. It's good thing that my website, I host it on Kajabi, didn't say, Dude, you told us to look for this, we looked for it, we couldn't find it. So I was kind of embarrassed. And I said, that's it. I'm done. Today is done. Tomorrow is another day.
What do you do when your schedule blows up? I remember a couple years ago, my wife fell at home and broke her arm. That was not on my schedule. So what did I do? I had to improvise, adapt and overcome. I had to take care of my wife. Look it, the best plans you created for your day, they're gonna blow up from time to time. Take a breath, pick up the pieces the best you can and go on with your day.
I've got a brand new diet for you. Guaranteed this one will work. Now you're not gonna lose weight on this diet. But it's different kind of diet. So I had a guest on my podcast. yesterday, well, the episode came out this morning, and she says I am on a negativity diet. A negativity diet. Think about that. How much negativity are you allowing into your life every day through social media, through the news, through your friends and your colleagues and billboards and television and television commercials? We all need to go on a negativity diet. Okay? Again, you're not gonna lose any weight on this, but you're going to feel better. So I am going to go on a negativity diet. And I encourage you to do the same thing. Let's go on a negativity diet together.
